2018 Featured Event: Southern California Poetry Festival

November 16 to 18, 2018

The SoCalPoFest is an annual poetry festival that relocates each year to a different Southern California community. For 2018, the third annual, the event will feature themed readings and workshops. The SoCalPoFest is dedicated to preserving the diversity of voices within our community, and this diversity extends across cultural lines and lines related to schools of poetic thought. We want to hear poetry from all who make a practice of it, regardless of poetic affiliation or cultural group.

2018 Featured Event: PBS SoCal Reads

Join PBS SoCal and The Last Bookstore to celebrate the nation’s 100 most-loved novels. Inspired by the PBS series The Great American Read, the evening will feature exclusive clips, discussions with author Lisa See and Eliyannah Yisrael, a local subject from the series, and a special performance by Impro Theatre’s hilarious “Jane Austen UnScripted.”

2018 Featured Author: Bethany C. Morrow

Bethany C. Morrow is a recovering expat recently returning from six years in Montreal, Quebec, to live and write in north-country New York — yet another foreign place. A California native, Bethany graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a BA in Sociology (but took notable detours in the Film and Theatre departments). Following undergrad, she studied Clinical Psychological Research at the University of Wales, Bangor, in Great Britain before returning to North America to focus on her literary work.
