Syllble Presents: Science Fiction and Fantasy Author Nisi Shawl

Nisi Shawl is a founder of the diversity-in-speculative-fiction nonprofit the Carl Brandon Society and serves on the Board of Directors of the Clarion West Writers’ Workshop. Her story collection Filter House was a winner of the 2009 Tiptree/Otherwise Award, and her debut novel, Everfair, was a 2016 Nebula finalist. Shawl edited Bloodchildren: Stories by the Octavia E. Butler Scholars (2013). She coedited Strange Matings: Science Fiction, Feminism, African American Voices, and Octavia E. Butler (2013).
Syllble is a sci-fi and fantasy production house for writers and creatives who build fictional worlds together and populate them with their stories. mission is to enable diverse creators from around the world to collaborate around the production of unique fictional worlds and cultivate groundbreaking and innovative storytelling through them, and across different mediums.
Syllble believes creativity expressed through collaboration within fictional worlds gives us the greatest opportunity to create a new era of storytelling that is more creator empowered and creator owned. Syllble prioritizes bringing more access and opportunities to underrepresented voices and Black, Indigenous, People of Color writers and creators.
